A video showing a police officer washing Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad's car has gone viral leading to discussions about whether the officer should have been performing this task. Gaikwad explained that the officer who had become ill after breakfast offered to clean the car himself and no one asked him to do it.
Earlier this year Gaikwad faced controversy after claiming to have killed a tiger in 1987 and wearing its tooth as a necklace. The Forest Department seized the tooth and charged him under the Wildlife Protection Act with the tooth undergoing forensic analysis.
Harshwardhan Sapkal a former Congress MLA, criticized the use of police personnel for such tasks calling it disgraceful. Gaikwad a member of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's party had previously posted a video boasting about tracking a large tiger.
The ongoing debate highlights concerns about the misuse of police services and the legal issues surrounding Gaikwad’s tiger tooth.
