Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis dismissed claims about PM Narendra Modi’s retirement, asserting he will lead India beyond 2029. His remarks countered Shiv Sena UBT leader Sanjay Raut, who suggested Modi visited the RSS headquarters in Nagpur to discuss his retirement.
Fadnavis criticized discussions on Modi’s successor, calling it inappropriate in Indian culture. He likened it to Mughal traditions, stating leadership talks should not arise while the leader is active.
Raut claimed the RSS seeks a leadership change and hinted that Modi might retire at 75, following a trend in the ruling party. Modi turns 75 in September.
On Sunday, in his first RSS headquarters visit since becoming PM, Modi praised the organization as India’s cultural “banyan tree.” His visit fueled speculation, but BJP leaders insist he will remain at the helm.
