The much-anticipated Abir Gulaal, starring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, has generated excitement after its teaser release. However, the film is facing resistance from Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), which opposes its release due to Fawad’s Pakistani nationality. MNS spokesperson Ameya Khopkar declared they will not allow the film’s screening in Maharashtra.
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam also commented, stating that Pakistani artists rarely succeed in India and that the government should decide on their participation in Indian films. Abir Gulaal, directed by Aarti S. Bagdi, marks Fawad’s return to Hindi cinema after nine years, following an unofficial ban on Pakistani artists in 2016.
Set in London, the film promises a heartwarming love story with unexpected turns. The teaser, featuring Fawad and Vaani sharing a romantic moment in a car, has captivated audiences. Abir Gulaal is set for release on May 9, 2025.
