Owaisi's Controversial Comments On Modi Selling Tea

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while inaugurating an airport in Haryana, stated that Muslim youths wouldn’t need to fix punctures if Waqf properties had been used “honestly.” He blamed land mafias for misusing these lands meant for charity, affecting poor and backward communities. He claimed the amended Waqf law will correct such misuse.

Opposition leaders condemned the remark. AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi retorted sharply, questioning what the BJP government has done for the poor in the last 11 years and accused the new Waqf amendments of weakening existing protections. Congress leader Imran Pratapgarhi criticized the language used by Modi, calling it disrespectful and divisive, while also highlighting lack of Muslim representation in BJP ranks.

Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate also questioned BJP’s stance on inclusivity, contrasting it with the party’s failure to honour Dalit icons and appoint minority leaders. Opposition parties allege the Waqf law targets Muslims, while BJP claims it ensures better management.
