NSG Commandos Withdrawn from VIP Security Duties

The Indian government has issued orders to withdraw National Security Guard (NSG) Black Cat commandos from the security duties of nine high-risk VIPs. Starting in November, the security of these individuals will be handled by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), according to the Union Home Ministry on Wednesday.

As part of this transition, specially trained battalions from NSG, previously deployed for VIP and Parliament security, will be reassigned to the CRPF’s VIP wing. The changes in CRPF and NSG duties are expected to be completed within a month.

The nine 'Z-plus' category VIPs who had NSG commandos guarding them include:

- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath

- Former BSP chief Mayawati

- Defense Minister Rajnath Singh

- Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani

- Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal

- Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh

- Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and DPAP President Ghulam Nabi Azad

- National Conference President Farooq Abdullah

- Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu

These VIPs will now have their security managed by the CRPF.
