West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has strongly criticized the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh. She criticized the religious event happening in Prayagraj, stating that there is no proper planning for the Maha Kumbh Mela. Referring to the recent stampede incident, she described the Maha Kumbh as the "Death Kumbh."
Mamata accused the government of giving special privileges to VIPs attending the Kumbh Mela while neglecting the poor. She also made sensational comments, alleging that the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh is "selling religion to divide the country." She raised questions on why such a serious event was being overhyped, targeting the UP government with several questions.
Speaking during the Budget session in the state assembly, Mamata said, "That is the 'Death Kumbh.' I respect the Maha Kumbh. I respect the holy Ganga Mata. But there is no proper planning there. There are special camps for the rich and VIPs. There is a system where you can book special tents by spending lakhs of rupees. But there are no arrangements for the poor. Stampedes are common in such events (mela), but it is important to make arrangements to avoid such incidents. What arrangements have you made here?" she questioned the UP government.
