Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Doda in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday to address an election rally, marking the first visit by a Prime Minister to the area in 42 years. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy highlighted the significance of this visit noting that the last Prime Ministerial visit to Doda was in 1982. Modi's rally at Doda Sports Stadium will be his first since the Jammu and Kashmir assembly election was announced on August 31.
He will also visit Srinagar on September 19. The J&K assembly elections will be held in three phases, starting September 18, with Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts voting first. The BJP has candidates Gajay Singh Rana and Shakti Raj Parihar for Doda seats.
Following Doda, Modi will travel to Kurukshetra for a rally ahead of Haryana’s October 5 elections. Security is heightened in Doda following recent violent incidents and ongoing militant activity.
