Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar lost his temper during a state Assembly discussion on reservation laws, targeting RJD MLA Rekha Devi by saying, "You are a woman, you don't know anything," and claiming his government promoted women after 2005.
This remark sparked outrage among opposition members who had been demanding special state status and 65% reservation.
Despite Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav's attempts to calm the assembly the opposition continued their protest.
Kumar defended his government's actions citing a caste survey that led to increased quotas for SC, ST, OBC and extremely backward classes.
He also mentioned the state's appeal to the Supreme Court after the Patna High Court set aside reservation laws.
As opposition members chanted against him Kumar dismissed their criticism saying everyone would protest if they targeted him.
The Speaker adjourned the session with Minister Vijay Chaudhary accusing the opposition of creating unnecessary disruption over the reservation issue.
