Union minister Nitin Gadkari revealed that a political leader once offered to support his bid for the Prime Minister's post but he declined stating he had no such ambition.
Gadkari emphasized that his main focus is his principles and loyalty to his organization, not seeking high positions. Speaking at a journalism awards event he highlighted the importance of ethics in journalism and politics.
Gadkari also shared a past conversation with a senior CPI leader about the late A B Bardhan praising Bardhan for his honest opposition despite being an RSS critic.
He stressed that honest opposition deserves respect while dishonest opposition does not. Gadkari concluded by stating that democracy thrives only when all four pillars—judiciary, executive, legislature and media—uphold ethical standards.
