New BJP President Likely Next Year: Who Will Get the Opportunity?

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up to elect a new national president in the upcoming year. According to recent reports, the process to elect the new BJP chief has already begun, with the selection expected to conclude by February 2024.

Election Process Underway

As per the BJP constitution, at least half of the state units must complete their organizational elections before initiating the process to elect the national president. Party sources revealed that these elections are progressing smoothly across the states. The polling process in over 50% of the state units is likely to be completed by mid-January 2024, paving the way for the new president to take charge by the end of February.

Current President JP Nadda

JP Nadda has been serving as the BJP’s national president since 2020. He initially assumed the role after the party’s successful term under Amit Shah. Recently, following the NDA's return to power for a third term, Nadda was inducted into the Union Cabinet as the Minister of Health, while continuing as the party’s national president.

Term Extension for 2024 Elections

The tenure for the BJP chief is typically three years, but Nadda’s term was extended beyond its expiration to ensure stability and strategic leadership during the critical 2024 Lok Sabha elections. With the general elections concluded, the party is now preparing for a leadership change.

What’s Next?

As BJP insiders have revealed, a new face is likely to take over the reins by February. Speculation is rife about who will lead the party in its next phase, with names of senior and influential leaders already being discussed. The decision will set the tone for BJP’s strategy in the years ahead.
