The NDA coalition is dominating the Maharashtra Assembly elections, leading in over 210 of the 288 seats. In stark contrast, the INDIA alliance is trailing with leads in just 68 seats, dashing their hopes of gaining power in the state.
The INDIA alliance had been optimistic about securing a majority in Maharashtra. Strategic seat-sharing and a robust campaign were aimed at unseating the incumbent NDA government. Their confidence was bolstered by favorable results in the earlier parliamentary elections.
Initial rounds of counting suggested a neck-and-neck contest. However, as the counting progressed, the NDA surged ahead, decisively crossing the magic figure of 145 seats required for a majority. With leads in over 210 constituencies, the NDA has demonstrated a commanding performance, solidifying its grip on the state.
Meanwhile, results from Jharkhand indicate a contrasting scenario. Out of 81 seats, the INDIA alliance is leading in 51 seats, while the NDA is ahead in 28 seats. These results offer some solace to the INDIA alliance, but the Maharashtra outcome remains a significant setback.
The results underscore the NDA's strong foothold in Maharashtra and its ability to mobilize voters effectively, while the INDIA alliance faces a moment of reckoning regarding its strategy in the state.
