Mumbai, the financial capital of India, is on high alert after central intelligence agencies warned of a potential terrorist threat. In response, the city's police force has tightened security across the city, conducting extensive checks and deploying forces in crowded and religious areas.
A senior city police official stated on Saturday that mock drills have been ordered in sensitive areas, and Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) have been instructed to focus on security arrangements in their respective zones. Citizens have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities immediately.
With several upcoming festivals such as Durga Puja, Dussehra, and Diwali, the city is preparing for a busy season. Additionally, given the possibility of Maharashtra Assembly elections in November, security has been intensified to prevent any untoward incidents.
