Former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni has been appointed as the brand ambassador for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly Elections. The Election Commission has confirmed that Dhoni has given consent for the use of his image in election promotions.
Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar announced that Dhoni will contribute to voter awareness as part of the SVEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation) campaign.
The Jharkhand Assembly Elections, covering 81 seats, will be held in two phases: the first phase on November 13 for 43 seats, and the second on November 20 for the remaining 38 seats. Vote counting will take place on November 23. With the current Assembly’s term ending on January 5 next year, the state has approximately 26 million voters, and 29,562 polling stations have been set up.
