More Trainees Laid Off from Infosys Mysuru Campus

Infosys, one of India's leading IT firms, has once again made headlines after reportedly laying off an additional 30 to 45 trainees from its Mysuru campus. These terminations are said to be due to the trainees failing internal assessment tests.

This comes after the company had earlier let go of over 400 trainees, which sparked widespread criticism. The issue even reached the Prime Minister’s Office, leading to an inquiry by the Labour Ministry.

In response to the backlash, Infosys has offered an alternative to the affected trainees. The company is providing them with an opportunity to be recruited under a Business Process Management (BPM) role, which includes 12 weeks of training. Additionally, those unwilling to take the BPM route are being provided with transport assistance to Bengaluru and reimbursement for travel expenses to their hometowns. Infosys is also offering a relieving letter and one month’s ex-gratia payment to those laid off.

The company has also informed the trainees that they can stay at the Employee Care Centre in Mysuru until their last working day if needed. Trainees who wish to leave the campus must submit their details before March 27.

These developments continue to fuel discussions about Infosys' hiring and training policies, especially in light of recent layoffs and salary concerns within the Indian IT sector.
