After the intense Lok Sabha 2024 election campaign concluded on May 30 Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans a spiritual retreat to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari of Tamil Nadu.
During his visit he will meditate at the Dhyan Mandapam where Swami Vivekananda once meditated.
PM Modi will arrive at the memorial near the statue of Tamil saint Tiruvalluvar on the evening of May 30 and stay until June 1 before returning to Delhi.
Kanyakumari is the southernmost tip of India and it is spiritually important as it is where the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea meet.
It was also crucial in Swami Vivekananda's life where he envisioned ‘Bharat Mata’ after three days of meditation influencing his vision for India.
The rock is central to his spiritual journey akin to Sarnath for Gautam Buddha.
This visit continues PM Modi’s tradition of post election spiritual retreats.
In 2019 he visited Kedarnath and in 2014 he paid homage at Shivaji’s Pratapgarh.
These journeys reflect his commitment to spiritual reflection and rejuvenation following the demands of election campaigns.
