During a Lok Sabha debate marking the 75th anniversary of India's Constitution, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sharply criticized the Congress party for its long-standing rule and failure to improve the nation. He condemned the slogan "Garibi Hatao" (eradicate poverty) as the "biggest jumla" in Indian politics, claiming it was used to gain political advantage without addressing poverty.
In contrast, Modi highlighted his government's dedication to uplifting the poor, saying their efforts go beyond rhetoric. He defended policies like providing free rations, emphasizing that ensuring the poor stay out of poverty is crucial.
Modi argued that the government is committed to this mission and has successfully helped millions overcome poverty, rejecting claims of excessive welfare.
