The Dadasaheb Phalke Award, presented for exceptional services to Indian cinema, has been awarded to renowned actor Mithun Chakravarty. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced via his Twitter account that Mithun Chakravarty will receive the award on October 8.
"Mithun Da's remarkable cinematic journey serves as an inspiration for generations. The Dadasaheb Phalke selection committee has decided to award Mithun Chakravarty for his distinctive contributions to Indian cinema," stated Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Mithun Chakravarty began his film career in 1976. Alongside acting, he also worked as a producer for several films. Movies like "Disco Dancer," "Jagir," "Kasma Paida Karne Wale Ki," "Humse Hai Zamana," and "Pati Patni Aur Tawaif" brought him significant fame.
Hailing from West Bengal, Mithun Chakravarty has actively campaigned for the BJP during the assembly and parliamentary elections in Bengal. Earlier this year in January, he received the Padma Bhushan award, and now he has been honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
