Karnataka's IT-BT Minister, Priyank Kharge aims to create four to five innovation hubs across India similar to Bengaluru known as the “Silicon Valley of India.”
Speaking at the Design & Engineering Summit 2024 by Nasscom, Kharge emphasized positioning Karnataka as a center for knowledge and skills not just an investment hub. He envisions Karnataka driving innovation globally in the next 10-15 years.
Kharge shared his vision to expand beyond Bengaluru by developing regional hubs to attract talent, education, and investment, boosting employment and growth. He highlighted Karnataka’s strong tech presence, being the fourth largest technology cluster globally, with over one-third of India’s tech talent, 25,000 startups, and 52 unicorns.
Kharge stressed the importance of training top talent, especially in artificial intelligence, where India ranks third globally. Karnataka aims to supply skilled talent through partnerships with industry leaders and global capability centers.
