A massive traffic jam was reported at the Delhi borders following heightened security measures due to unrest in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh. The violence erupted during a court-ordered survey at a historic prayer site, leading to the tragic deaths of five individuals and injuries to over 30, including police personnel.
In response to the unrest, senior Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra announced their visit to Sambhal, prompting the authorities to tighten security across Delhi. Barricades were placed at multiple locations, especially along the Delhi–Sambhal route. The intensified vehicle checks caused significant traffic disruptions, particularly on the Delhi–Meerut Expressway near Ghaziabad, with videos of stranded vehicles now going viral on social media.
The violence broke out on November 24 during a survey of the centuries-old Shahi Jama Masjid, a relic from the Mughal era. Protesters resorted to stone-pelting and arson, prompting police to open fire to disperse the crowd. The incident has sparked widespread concern and a strong security response.
