A Delhi court extended the judicial custody of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia until July 15 in the CBI case related to the Excise Policy scam.
Special Judge Kaveri Baweja extended the custody via video conference, as the previous term had expired. Sisodia, an AAP leader, appeared in the Rouse Avenue court.
On July 3, the Rouse Avenue court directed the Enforcement Directorate to provide copies of supplementary chargesheets and documents to the accused within two days.
Sisodia’s counsel was given ten days to review the documents and report any deficiencies.
In May 2024 the Delhi High Court denied Sisodia's bail plea with Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma citing a grave misuse of power and breach of public trust by Sisodia during his tenure.
The court highlighted Sisodia’s alleged involvement in destroying crucial evidence including electronic data and his significant influence as a minister.
Earlier the court had granted bail to co accused Prince, Damodar and Arvind Singh.
