West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) will collectively decide her successor, emphasizing that no individual dominates the party. In an interview with News 18 Bangla, she called TMC a "collective family" where decisions are made jointly by its leadership, including MLAs, MPs, and booth workers.
Addressing the internal tussle between veteran leaders and younger members close to her nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, Mamata balanced her stance, saying, “Everyone is important. Today’s newcomers are tomorrow’s veterans.” While no official succession plan has been announced, her remarks come amidst speculation.
She also criticized political consultants like I-PAC, stating that elections are won by grassroots workers, not strategists who conduct surveys remotely. Mamata stressed that TMC remains disciplined and focused on collective efforts to serve the people, signaling unity despite ongoing generational debates within the party.
