Shiv Sena leader Neelam Gorhe’s claim that posts in the undivided Shiv Sena were secured by gifting Mercedes cars has triggered controversy. Uddhav Thackeray, leader of Sena (UBT), dismissed the allegation, stating that those involved are politically irrelevant. Gorhe, now with the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, clarified that her comments were a response to a specific question.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders condemned Gorhe’s remarks. Sanjay Raut criticized the use of the 98th All India Marathi Literary Meet for political comments, suspecting political pressure on the event organizers. Opposition leader Ambadas Danve refuted Gorhe’s claims, asserting that his rise in the party was merit-based. Sushma Andhare questioned Gorhe’s own gains during her three-decade association with the undivided Sena.
The controversy intensified as Sena (UBT) workers protested outside Gorhe’s Pune residence, demanding an apology to Thackeray. Meanwhile, Raut called for a response from the event organizers, alleging misuse of the literary platform.
