Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that a chapter on the 1975 Emergency will be added to the state's school curriculum to highlight the "excesses and repression" during that time imposed by the Congress government.
The aim is to educate the current generation about the struggles from 1975 to 1977.
Yadav revealed this while addressing those who resisted the Emergency known as 'Loktantra Senanis' .
Yadav also introduced benefits for these fighters including discounted stays at government rest houses, reduced toll fees, expedited medical reimbursements through Ayushman health cards and air ambulance services for serious health issues.
Additionally they will receive a 25% discount on fares and arrangements for state honors at their last rites with funeral assistance increased from Rs.8,000 to Rs.10,000.
Employment opportunities will be provided for their family members with necessary training for setting up businesses.
The announcement coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Emergency imposed by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on June 25, 1975.
