A few days ago, four young men from Chittoor traveled to the Maha Kumbh Mela by auto. A father and son duo from Udupi, Karnataka, also made the journey to the Kumbh Mela on their bike. Now, a 73-year-old man, along with his wife, has made the same journey on a bike.
Mahendra Patel (73) and his wife, Asmita Patel (67), decided they wanted to attend the Kumbh Mela. They had been trying to get train tickets for a long time but couldn’t find any. They didn’t have enough money to buy plane tickets, so they decided to travel by their own bike.
On the 5th of this month, the couple set off from their hometown in Mehsana, Gujarat, on their bike. However, they didn’t go directly to the Kumbh Mela; instead, they planned to visit several other holy places along the way.
They traveled through Rajasthan, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttarakhand, before reaching Uttar Pradesh. Along the way, they visited sacred temples in Mathura, Vrindavan, Barsana, and Ayodhya. After 15 days of travel, they finally arrived at the Kumbh Mela.
After taking a holy dip at the Kumbh Mela, they set off for Ujjain to visit the temple there. The couple has three children, all of whom are married. They shared that after all these years, they finally found some free time but couldn’t afford to travel by any other means, so they decided to make the journey on their bike.
