A horrifying incident took place in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, where a young woman was kidnapped and subjected to 22 gang rapes over a span of a week. The police have arrested six individuals and are searching for the remaining suspects.
The 19-year-old woman from Lalpur went missing on March 29, after telling her family she was going to meet a friend. She often went out, but this time, she did not return home. Her family filed a missing person report with the police on April 4.
On the same day, the police rescued her from the kidnappers near Pandepur, where she was found under the influence of drugs. She was then dropped off near her friend's house. Upon returning home, she informed her father about the sexual assault. On April 6, she, along with her father, went to the police to file a formal complaint.
In her complaint, she stated that she was raped by 22 men at various locations, including a local hookah center, a hotel, a lodge, and a guest house. The police registered a case and arrested some of the suspects from Hukool Ganj and Lalpur areas that same night. However, some of the suspects are minors, and the police have not disclosed their full details.
DCP Chandrakant Meena clarified that neither the victim nor her family reported the sexual assault on April 4, and the complaint was only filed on April 6. The investigation is ongoing.
