Justice Ramasubramanian, a former Supreme Court judge, has taken charge as the Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). He will serve in this role for five years or until he reaches the age of 70.
An alumnus of Madras Law College, Justice Ramasubramanian practiced law for 23 years starting in 1983. He later served as a judge in the Madras and erstwhile Andhra Pradesh High Courts, as well as the Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
From 2019 to 2023, he held the position of a Supreme Court judge.
