Omar Abdullah, vice-president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) accused the People's Democratic Party (PDP) of aiming to help the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regain power in the region. His comments followed Iltija Mufti’s claim that the PDP would be the “kingmaker” in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.
Abdullah interpreted this as a sign that the PDP is not contesting to win but to enable the BJP’s return to power similar to their 2014 alliance.
He criticized the PDP for their past alliance with the BJP and suggested they have the same intentions now. Iltija Mufti running from Srigufwara-Bijbehara had expressed confidence in the PDP's role as a kingmaker but avoided commenting on potential support for the NC-Congress alliance if needed. She emphasized that the PDP’s goal is to prevent the BJP from gaining ground not just to play a numbers game.
With this rhetoric, many are doubting if Abdullah is hinting BJP's victory and pass on the blame to PDP.
