Is Annamalai More Loyal to His Party Than the State?

Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai's comments on the Joint Action Committee (JAC) meeting, chaired by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, regarding delimitation have sparked controversy. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar reacted strongly, accusing Annamalai of prioritizing his party over the interests of his state. Speaking to the media on Sunday, Shivakumar criticized Annamalai's stance.

During the JAC meeting led by Stalin, Annamalai, along with BJP leaders, staged a protest. He also made allegations against Kerala and Karnataka, claiming that the delimitation process would harm the southern states. Critics accused him of unnecessarily creating unrest and claimed that he was more loyal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah than to Tamil Nadu’s concerns.

During Saturday’s JAC meeting, Stalin warned that reducing the parliamentary seats of southern states through delimitation would diminish their political representation. He emphasized that their fight was not against delimitation itself but for a fair and just process that ensures equal representation.
