Infosys Layoffs: No Labour Law Violations

The Karnataka Labour Ministry's interim report has found that Infosys has not violated any labour laws in its recent layoffs of freshers, according to sources. Officials investigated the matter at Infosys’ Mysuru campus, where the company clarified its hiring and termination process. A final report is expected by March 5.

The layoffs, which affected at least 300 freshers, were attributed to employees failing internal tests. However, IT employees’ union NITES claims that up to 700 freshers were dismissed without prior notice or compensation. The union alleges that affected employees were forced to sign confidentiality agreements and were escorted out of the premises under pressure.

While Infosys maintains that terminations followed contractual agreements, NITES continues to demand government intervention. The Union Ministry of Labour and Employment has urged the Karnataka Labour Ministry to take necessary action, ensuring transparency and fairness in the company’s employment practices.
