India Sets New Record In Chess Olympiad

Indian chess player D Gukesh secured a historic gold for India by defeating Russian Vladimir Fedoseev at the Chess Olympiad in Hungary. Arjun Erigaisi also contributed with a victory over Serbian Jan Subelj on the final day. 

India clinched its first-ever gold as China faltered against the USA. India led the open section standings with 19 points followed by China with 17 and Slovenia with 16. 

In the women's section India and Kazakhstan shared the top spot both with 17 points though India held a slight advantage on tiebreakers. The USA and Poland closely followed with 16 points each.
