I Am Healthy, Hospital Visit Was for a Routine Checkup: Eknath Shinde

Maharashtra caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde clarified that he is in good health and his recent hospital visit was only for routine medical checkups. His hospital stay raised eyebrows as suspense over the selection of the new Chief Minister continues, 10 days after the Maharashtra Assembly election results were declared.

Rumors surfaced suggesting Shinde's reluctance to relinquish the CM post to the BJP, fueling speculation that his hospital visit might be a political maneuver. However, Shinde dismissed these claims, stating that he is healthy and his visit was unrelated to any political developments.

CM Selection Still in Limbo

The BJP, the largest party in the alliance, is expected to claim the Chief Minister's position. Reports suggest that BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis is the frontrunner for the role, but an official announcement is yet to be made.

Recently, Shinde reaffirmed his commitment to the BJP high command's decision on the CM post, which has seemingly solidified Fadnavis’s position as the next Chief Minister.

Key BJP Meeting on Wednesday

An official announcement on the Chief Minister’s selection is likely on Wednesday. The Maharashtra BJP Legislative Party will convene to elect the new CM. Gujarat's former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will attend the meeting as BJP’s central observers.
