Narendra Modi's popularity has been increasing year by year, and with his adept ability to connect with the emotions of the people, he has become the favorite among the majority of voters in India.
Tamil Nadu, which has been under the influence of the DMK with its atheistic leanings, has seen a shift in sentiment.
Generations held onto that sentiment, but with the leadership of Annamalai, who communicates effectively in his public addresses, the BJP is gaining popularity in the state.
Adding fuel to Annamalai's fire, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to contest from Tamil Nadu, in addition to Varanasi in UP, has piqued the interest of Hindu voters in Tamil Nadu.
The pro-DMK sentiment among Hindu voters, which was prevalent for years, is now gradually fading, and many are aligning with the pro-BJP mood.
Surveys and ground reports also indicate that the BJP may win several MP seats this time around.
Videos and snippets of Narendra Modi in Tamil Nadu, receiving accolades from the people, especially the Brahmins, are circulating nationwide, hinting at a change in the state's political landscape in the near future.
"Even the Brahmins were either aligned with the DMK or with the AIADMK all these years. Religious Hindus also felt disenchanted, with limited options as they typically chose between the two local parties. However, now Narendra Modi has stirred the emotions of religious Hindus, and the 'Annamalai effect' has further influenced them. Today, the majority of Brahmins and religious Hindus in Tamil Nadu support the BJP. This shift is so strong and is expected to have a significant ripple effect, and down the line, atheistic and anti-Hindu parties are likely to fade away," remarked Shankaran, a psephologist from Tamil Nadu.
