High Alert at Kumbh Mela

High Alert at Kumbh Mela

There has already been a stampede once. There is a possibility of similar situations arising again tomorrow. As a result, a high alert has been issued in the surrounding areas of Kumbh Mela. This is due to tomorrow's Magha Purnima.

On the day of Magha Purnima, millions of devotees are showing interest in taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam. The same day that the previous stampede occurred was also a special day. After the incident, the government has taken full precautionary measures for tomorrow's auspicious occasion.

As part of these measures, the entire Kumbh Mela area has been declared a "No Vehicle" zone from 4 AM today until tomorrow. Additionally, 52 new officials and extra forces have been deployed to prevent any untoward incidents.

The government is requesting devotees to cooperate for the smooth conduct of the fourth Amrit Snan, which will take place on Wednesday. The traffic jam that had extended for 100 kilometers until yesterday has been streamlined today. Devotees, who had been stuck in traffic for nearly 24 hours, are now able to reach the ghats.

Since January 13, an estimated 450 million people have taken holy dips at the Kumbh Mela. Tomorrow, it is expected that 8 to 10 million people will take their dip.

Once tomorrow passes, the next peak day will be Maha Shivaratri. Therefore, the authorities are on high alert. They are requesting the public not to believe rumors and to avoid rushing at the bathing areas.
