Hemant Soren Case: ED Recovers 1 Cr Cash, 100 Bullets

ED seized Rs 1 crore in cash and 100 live bullets during raids in Ranchi on June 21, part of a money laundering investigation linked to an alleged land grab involving former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The items were found at Kamlesh Singh's residence.

The investigation focuses on a different land plot from the original case against Soren who is a Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader.

The ED has also filed a police case under the Arms Act for the ammunition. Over 25 individuals including Soren and former Ranchi deputy commissioner Chhavi Ranjan have been arrested.

The ED has attached land parcels worth Rs 266 crore including 8.86 acres in Ranchi allegedly acquired illegally by Soren and has filed four chargesheets.

Soren was arrested on January 31 after resigning as Chief Minister denies the charges claiming they are politically motivated by the BJP led central government.
