Free Medical Aid For All Above 70

President Droupadi Murmu announced that all Indian citizens over 70 will receive free treatment under the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme. 

She mentioned the rapid progress in opening 25,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the country. 

Speaking to Parliament she highlighted that the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) is already providing free health services to 55 crore beneficiaries. 

Now this scheme will extend its benefits to elderly people above 70 years offering them free medical treatment. 

The Hospital Empanelment and Management (HEM) guidelines task State Health Agencies with the responsibility of enrolling hospitals under AB-PMJAY.
