Apple supplier Foxconn plans to acquire up to 300 acres of land near the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. This would be its first plant in North India and could even surpass the scale of its upcoming Bengaluru facility, which is set to be the second largest in the world.
This move is part of Foxconn and Apple’s broader strategy to shift parts of their supply chain to India, reducing their dependence on China due to rising tariffs. Talks with the government are ongoing, and it is not yet clear what will be manufactured at the new plant.
The proposed site is near HCL-Foxconn’s existing 50-acre semiconductor assembly unit, close to the upcoming Jewar airport. Meanwhile, the Indian government is also close to approving more proposals under the India Semiconductor Mission, aiming to strengthen domestic chip manufacturing capabilities."
