Om Prakash Chautala, former Haryana Chief Minister and leader of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), passed away on Friday at the age of 88. He breathed his last around 12 PM at Medanta Hospital, Gurugram, where he was undergoing treatment for respiratory issues. Medanta authorities confirmed his demise.
Early Life and Political Journey
Born on January 1, 1935, in Chautala village, Sirsa, Om Prakash Chautala served as Haryana's Chief Minister five times. He first assumed office on December 2, 1989, and held the position until May 22, 1990. He returned to the CM's seat on July 12, 1990, after Banarasi Das Gupta was removed from office. However, his second term lasted only five days. Chautala became CM again on April 22, 1991, but the central government imposed President’s rule in Haryana two weeks later.

Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini expressed his grief over Chautala's passing, stating that his contributions to the state's politics will always be remembered.
