Municipal elections are underway in Uttarakhand, with polling taking place for 11 municipal corporations, 43 municipalities, and 46 town panchayats. Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat went to a polling booth in Dehradun to cast his vote but discovered that his name was missing from the voter list.
Rawat, who had cast his vote from the Niranjanpur area in the 2022 Assembly elections, found his name absent this time. Officials confirmed that his name was removed from the voter list.
The senior Congress leader, who has been voting from Niranjanpur since 2009, expressed disappointment, stating that he had been waiting since morning to vote but couldn’t find his name on the list. Rawat accused the BJP of tampering with the voter list and said he would file a complaint with the Election Commission.
However, the Election Commission reportedly blamed technical issues with their computer servers. The incident has sparked controversy amid the ongoing municipal elections.
