Five-Year Ban Imposed on Two Groups by the Central Government

The Central Government has imposed a ban on two groups operating in Jammu and Kashmir. Under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, the Awami Action Committee (AAC) and Jammu and Kashmir Ittihadul Muslimeen (JKIM) have been declared banned organizations for five years.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued two separate notifications in this regard. The Awami Action Committee (AAC) is led by Umar Farooq, while Masroor Abbas Ansari heads the Jammu and Kashmir Ittihadul Muslimeen (JKIM).

According to the notification, members of these two organizations have been involved in activities that promote separatism in Jammu and Kashmir, support terrorist activities, and participate in anti-India propaganda.

The MHA stated that their actions pose a threat to the integrity, sovereignty, and security of the nation. Considering all aspects, the Central Government has decided to impose a five-year ban on these two organizations.
