Firing on Former Don Muthappa Rai’s Son Rikki Rai

An incident of firing on Rikki Rai, the younger son of former don Muthappa Rai, occurred late at night near the latter's residence in Bidadi, Ramanagara taluk. The attack took place around 11:30 PM as Rikki was leaving for Bengaluru in his Fortuner car. Interestingly, although he usually drives himself, on this occasion he was seated in the backseat with his gunman, while the driver was at the wheel — a decision that potentially saved his life.

Details of the Attack:

Targeted Shooting: The assailant, hiding near a compound gap along the roadside, fired two rounds using a 70mm shotgun, aiming at the driver’s seat.

Injuries Sustained: One bullet entered through the car door, penetrated the driver’s seat cushion, and struck Rikki Rai on his nose and hand. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Bengaluru.

Escape from Danger: The driver, Basavaraju, instinctively bent forward, narrowly escaping serious harm. Rikki’s change in seating position likely prevented a fatal outcome.

Possible Planned Conspiracy?

Rikki had returned from Russia just two days prior and was active in the real estate business.

The shooter lay in wait at a compound’s opening, indicating prior knowledge of Rikki's movements.

The use of a professional sharpshooter is suspected due to the precise targeting.

Investigators are now probing who leaked Rikki’s travel plans and whether the shooter acted alone or was part of a larger conspiracy.

Police Investigation:

Police have launched an investigation to identify the attackers and the motive. The precision and planning involved suggest it may have been a premeditated attempt on Rikki Rai’s life. Further updates are awaited as the investigation progresses.
