Karnataka former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy is known for popularizing the term "brother." It has become a habit and routine for Kumaraswamy to greet media persons and politicians with the word "brother" whenever he meets them. They also consider Kumaraswamy as their brother.
However, Preetham Gowda, former MLA of Hassan, is not ready to accept Kumaraswamy either as a brother or to accept Kumaraswamy calling him his brother.
During a visit to Hassan, Kumaraswamy said that he considers Preetham Gowda, a prospective candidate to contest from Hassan to Lok Sabha on a BJP ticket, as his brother. However, the latter said that it would be tough to consider Kumaraswamy as a brother. Gowda said that he has yet to forget how Kumaraswamy worked against him during the Assembly elections.
Hassan witnessed neck-and-neck fighting between JD(S) candidate Swaroop Praksh, who polled 85,176 votes, and BJP candidate Preetham Gowda, who polled 77,322 votes in the elections held to the State Assembly in May 2023.
Preetham Gowda, who won from Hassan to the State Assembly in 2018, is confident of getting Form B from the BJP to contest to Lok Sabha from the Hassan parliamentary constituency in the forthcoming elections.
It may be recalled that Bhavani, the wife of H D Revanna, appealed to voters of Hassan during the Assembly elections to chase away Preetham Gowda from Hassan by defeating him with a huge margin.
Prior to this, Bhavani stated that she considers Preetham Gowda as her son. However, Preetham Gowda, reacting to Bhavani’s comment, stated that the people of Hassan are aware of Bhavani's love and affection towards him.
Gowda said that Bhavani has been using all types of tricks to ensure the election of her son Prajwal Revanna’s re-election to Lok Sabha from Hassan.
