Election Time: Hema Malini Calls Herself 'Jat Bahu'

Election Time: Hema Malini Calls Herself 'Jat Bahu'

It's election season, and consequently, the contestants tend to project themselves to appeal to the voters who form the majority in their constituency.

Now Hema Malini reminds the voters that she is not only a born Brahmin but also a Jat Bahu.

Indeed, there are significant numbers of voters from these two communities in her constituency of Mathura.

"People in Mathura will be voting for a combination of Narendra Modi and Hema Malini," states the actor-dancer, who is actively engaged in campaigning for her third successive term as Lok Sabha MP.

Despite this, she humbly acknowledges that she does not yet consider herself a seasoned politician.

She describes herself as a devotee of Krishna and expresses her desire to fulfill her dreams for her constituency, which includes Vrindavan. Seeking a ticket from the BJP, she aims to complete the pending work in her area.

Confident in securing victory in the Jat-dominated seat, she emphasizes her status as a 'Jat bahu,' owing to her marriage to fellow Bollywood star Dharmendra Deol, who belongs to the Jat Sikh community.

"While it may seem like a one-sided election, we still need to work hard to secure the maximum number of votes. Being a Jat bahu, I am deeply loved by all the Jats. Additionally, I also belong to the Brahmin community," she explains by discussing her prospects in a constituency where Lord Krishna's presence is pervasive as it being the site of the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple.
