The Election Commission is set to announce the dates for the Maharashtra and Jharkhand elections today at 3:30 PM. The press conference will take place at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi, where the dates for voting and vote counting will be revealed.
Maharashtra's assembly has 288 members, and the last election was held in October 2019. Initially, the BJP-led NDA secured a majority, but internal differences led the Shiv Sena to form a new alliance with the NCP and Congress, with Uddhav Thackeray becoming the Chief Minister.
However, in 2022, after a political crisis, Eknath Shinde formed a government with the BJP, later joined by Ajit Pawar's faction of the NCP in 2023.
