EC Responds to Rahul Gandhi’s Allegations

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi recently alleged irregularities in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Speaking at a press conference in Delhi, he strongly criticized the electoral process.

In response to these allegations, the Election Commission of India (EC) has issued a statement. The commission clarified that it will provide a written response to these claims and will soon release all relevant details.

Reacting on the social media platform X, the EC stated:

"The Election Commission of India gives utmost importance to political parties. We respect their opinions, suggestions, and concerns. A formal written response to these allegations will be provided soon. The commission will also present the complete facts and policy-related aspects concerning Maharashtra’s voters."

During his speech, Rahul Gandhi pointed out that after the Lok Sabha elections, Maharashtra’s Chief Electoral Officer was replaced. He highlighted that in the last five years, 3.2 million new voters were added to the state’s electoral list. Furthermore, 3.9 million new voters were registered between the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

"Who are these people? Where did they come from?" he questioned.

He also compared the number of additional voters to the total number of voters in Himachal Pradesh. He claimed that the vote share of the Congress party remained the same in both elections, while the NDA alliance gained extra votes, which led to their victory.

Rahul Gandhi demanded that the Election Commission address these concerns by providing a detailed voter list, along with photographs and addresses of the new voters.
