While the issue of the rape of Kolkata doctor is burning in the nation, now this is about a doctor who assaulted a lady medico.
A first year anatomy resident Dr. Maninder Kaushik has been expelled from Rohtak's Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) after abducting and assaulting a first-year BDS student on August 16-17. The victim who had known Kaushik for seven months was subjected to physical and emotional abuse, including kicking, punching, and knife torture, before being released on campus the following night.
She reported the incident to the police leading to Kaushik's arrest. The victim was medically examined, revealing multiple injuries. Although she did not allege rape, her statement was recorded before a judicial magistrate. The PGIMS authorities and the Resident Doctors Association have condemned Kaushik's actions, emphasizing his misuse of power.
The incident follows a national outcry over the rape and murder of a resident doctor in Kolkata. Kaushik remains in police custody as the investigation continues, and he has been barred from entering the PGIMS campus. The case has sparked serious concern within the medical community.
