'Delhi Chalo' Protest: Much Ado About Nothing?

'Delhi Chalo' Protest: Much Ado About Nothing?

Farmers from Punjab have been attempting to grab the attention of the entire nation with their "Delhi Chalo" protest in Delhi. It is planned to reach the national capital on March 6th, making it the biggest protest. However, political analysts are commenting that it may end up being much ado about nothing, citing the precedence of what happened in Andhra Pradesh in 2019-2020.

A political analyst mentioned, "When Jagan Mohan Reddy became the Chief Minister, there was a significant protest from the farmers of Amaravathi over the capital issue, orchestrated by the opposition party TDP. The movement fervently targeted the local elections and by-elections. Surprisingly, nothing went against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's party, and instead, it was the TDP that lost every election. Ironically, the positive impact was not even felt in elections in the Amaravathi region for the TDP."

"Looking at the farmers' protest in Delhi, it feels like it is going to repeat the same result," he concluded.

On the whole, it needs to be recalled that a farmer leader in Delhi mentioned that their movement is aimed at diminishing the positive image of Narendra Modi gained through the Ayodhya Ram Mandir inauguration. When the movement is branded as a political maneuver, there is nothing to connect it to the emotional aspect.
