On Wednesday, the Congress party filed a complaint against BJP leaders and allies for allegedly making threats against Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. The complaint, lodged by Congress Treasurer Ajay Maken at New Delhi's Tughlak Road Police Station, was also sent to the Chief Election Commissioner.
The complaint accuses BJP figures of issuing threats of assassination and bodily harm against Gandhi as well as calling him a terrorist. It claims these threats are intended to provoke unrest and riots.
The complaint cites several incidents: BJP leader Tarvinder Singh Marwah allegedly threatened Gandhi with a fate similar to Indira Gandhi, Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad purportedly announced a bounty for harming Gandhi and BJP leaders Ravneet Bittu and Raghuraj Singh reportedly labeled Gandhi as a terrorist.
Maken requested that an FIR be filed against the named individuals and their associates for their alleged threats and criminal conspiracy.
