Devendra Bhuyar, an independent MLA from Warud-Morshi, sparked controversy with remarks about marriage and farmers during an event. He claimed that attractive women prefer men with steady jobs, such as government employees, while those of lesser looks marry shopkeepers or farmers. He stated that a "third-grade" woman would marry a farmer's son, suggesting that children from such marriages lack good looks.
Bhuyar’s comments, made while discussing farmers' challenges, were criticized for being offensive and derogatory toward women. Congress leader Yashomati Thakur condemned his remarks, demanding accountability from Bhuyar's political ally, Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
Thakur stated that such comments would not be tolerated, and society would teach Bhuyar a lesson. Bhuyar's remarks have raised concerns about the treatment of women and the image of farmers in society.
