Congress has decided to allocate five seats to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections as part of a new alliance. The alliance based on a 5-1-1 formula includes five seats for AAP, one for the Samajwadi Party and one for the Left.
Further discussions on this seat-sharing arrangement are planned for a Congress Central Election Committee meeting. Haryana Congress incharge Deepak Babaria confirmed ongoing talks with AAP emphasizing unity against the BJP to avoid splitting votes.
AAP MP Sanjay Singh welcomed the alliance, highlighting a shared goal to defeat the BJP. Both parties aim to strengthen their presence in Haryana where they previously allied for Lok Sabha elections in multiple states.
The BJP criticized this alliance citing past electoral failures of similar coalitions. Haryana with 90 Assembly seats, will hold elections on October 5 with results announced on October 8.
