Congress Faces Challenge in Kerala Bypolls

Kerala is set for bypolls on November 13, with key contests in the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat and two Assembly constituencies. Notably, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is making her campaign debut.

However, attention has partly shifted from Wayanad to the Palakkad Assembly constituency, where the CPI(M) has endorsed Dr. P. Sarin, a former Congress member, as an independent candidate, stirring political discussions. Dr. Sarin, an MBBS graduate from Kozhikode Medical College, joined the Indian Accounts and Audit Service in 2008, serving in Kerala and Karnataka.

He left civil service in 2016 to pursue a political career, later becoming head of KPCC Digital Media after controversy around a BBC documentary. Now, he is running as the Left Democratic Front’s (LDF) candidate in Palakkad, spotlighting shifting alliances in Kerala’s political landscape.
